Artur Snitkus was an outstanding artist and a legend of the Ukrainian queer underground. He was mobilized to the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a soldier last year to defend Ukraine from the Russian invasion. On June 7, 2024, at the age of 36, Artur was killed in a combat mission on the frontline in the Donetsk region. In memory of Artur Snitkus, Kyiv Biennial together with Between Bridges and DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program will show a selection of his musical performances and the documentary Landslide (2016) by Oleksiy Radynsky, where Artur is one of the protagonists. His death is an unspoken loss for the entire art and cultural community in Ukraine and far beyond.
