CHASING, CHASING, CHASING, CHASING

The performance takes place as part of the exhibition opening of A Time in Pieces, on the occasion of Kyiv Perennial – the Berlin edition of the 5th Kyiv Biennial at Between Bridges. Based on a sentimental story of seeing a canary bird fly out of a window during childhood, Boji’s performance features a mix of field recordings, blasting dance music and raw inhaled vocals, presenting music from released and forthcoming albums, and incorporating contributions from the kvirtet collective. CHASING, CHASING, CHASING, CHASING is a reflection on the pursuit of the unknown future, the processing of personal traumas of loss and the re-establishment of self. Originally from Kyiv, Boji is a queer multimedia artist, musician and co-founder of the experimental collective Kvirtet. Since 2017, Boji has been working on new Ukrainian experimental music, incorporating elements of folk, queer synth-pop, field recordings, and raw vocals. In their artistic practice, Boji explores different mediums: video art, installation, and performance. After relocating from Ukraine to Berlin in 2022-2023, Boji created the Ukrainian album, СУБВЕРСИВНІ ВИСЄРИ / SUBVERSIVE SHIT TALK.
