Yevhen Makarov

Yevhen Makarov was a pioneer of Ukrainian animated cinema and a cartoonist. Besides visual image, he also worked with the graphic interpretation of words, rhythm, volume, and movement. The fonts he designed were used in printed materials, as well as in film and animation titles. He was the author of the first animated titles for the VUFKU films Wandering Stars, The Eleventh Year, and Sold Appetite (all released in 1927) and the director of the animated films Ten Years (1927) and State Loan (1930).
